Why My Last Blogs Failed…

…and why this one, like, totally won’t ๐Ÿ˜

I’ve had 3 failed blogs, but hear me out! It wasn’t so much that they failed, but rather, that they ended.

The Writing Blog

I had a writing blog back in 2017. It was pretty successful, and I would say so was my writing. The blog was about me helping indie authors self-publish their books ~ and achieve that dream of being a published author!!

Which is something that worked for me for a long time… until the self-publishing landscape changed.

Suddenly, you needed money to get seen, let alone read. I’m talking LOTS. Long story short, this is what happens in self-publishing these days:

A person hires writers, editors, and book cover artists. They crank out several books of one series or more, then spend 10K (that’s $10,000 buckaroos) in advertising, flooding the market.

Ever wonder how your favorite author publishes 4 books a month? Mmm, that’s how.

So, my self-publishing advice became irrelevant. ALL the info on my blog was outdated and useless. So, with a sigh, I said goodbye to both my writing blog and my dreams of writing any more books.

The Quirky Personal Blog

Then I had a really FUN blog!! I made so many friends with that blog ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿฅฐ It ran for a couple of years and I was pretty happy with it.

It was all ramen and K-pop and silly things and SO ME ๐Ÿ˜

But when I got pregnant, I got very sick. I’m talking ending up in the ER sick.

There’s a special sort of vulnerability that I felt when I was pregnant, and I wanted to put all my time and energy into making sure the pregnancy would be healthy. I didn’t know when I’d be back (this was 3 years ago now), so I deleted the site.

Spoiler alert: After 40 very tough weeks, I gave birth to a healthy baby boy ๐Ÿ’–

The 90’s Blog

Lastly, I started a 90’s blog a few months ago, but realized I bit off more than I could chew.

I wanted the blog to be so late 90’s, because that was a very special time in my life, but then I realized I would needs lots of outside photos. Meaning, copyrighted content I have no right to.

I would need screenshots of shows/movies, song lyrics, celebrity photos of fashion at the time… Yes, I do have a few 90’s things, but not enough to run a whole blog.

Chasing all that copyrighted content and making sure I could use it would take too much time, so… goodbye 90’s blog ๐Ÿฅฒ

Still with me? Okay, okay, okay… ๐Ÿ˜ Now here’s why…

This Blog Won’t Fail!!

Kiss By The Book won’t fail! ๐Ÿ™€ It can’t!

No, really. It can’t.

Because I haven’t promised anything ๐Ÿ˜„

I haven’t promised to post on a schedule, or about a niche topic, or with content that isn’t my own. I’m not teaching anything.

And instead of turning inward when hard times come, I’ve learned (thanks to my wonderful amazing friends!!) to instead turn outwards. So if I get pregnant and/or end up in the ER again, I’ll just let you know.

I do have a fashion blog that I’m very passionate about here ๐Ÿ‘‰ See Kawaii, but on this blog, I’m just having fun ๐Ÿ˜‡

My Creative Outlet

I’m the kind of person that just needs a creative outlet, and creativity doesn’t care about schedules or SEO.

So here I’m just going to be the overly-emotional, thinks-too-much, loves-simple-silly-things person that I am, and I just hope that other people can have fun and be entertained by reading this blog.

If you’ve read this far, you’re committed. You’ve got to subscribe. Thems the rules.

I’m kidding. If you’ve read this far, I’m glad ๐Ÿ˜Š

I hope to see you around! Comment with your blog so I can subscribe to yours ๐Ÿฅฐ

with love,

~ Maribelle๐ŸŒน~

  1. If you don’t mind advice, I’d say to find a niche. For me, I write reviews of pop culture media that I read or watch.

If you plan on just writing a personal life post, that can be the niche too!

  2. I ran 4 blogs, scribbble being my 5th, so you’re not alone in doing that Mari ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคฃ. As Ecargmura said lifestyle blogs are a niche. As someone who has been around blogging for a very long time, you’ll be fine in that niche, if you’re having fun with it ๐Ÿ˜. Looking forward to your next post!
